For some time now, there have been a select (hating) few that have decided (for whatever reason) to ignore the talent coming out of Hip Hop’s Mecca, NYC. Instead they have bashed any music coming out of the region, and ultimately reaching the extreme case of trolling by asking for a savior to come out of the Tri State Area. But fear not! For those that have been bypassing the quality work of Joey Bada$$ & The Pro Era Crew, Tray Pizzy, Bishop Nehru and many more rising stars, Harlem‘s own Dave East is here to make some noise!
Dave East has been making his way to the top, first with the release of his debut project Gemini. His audience has vastly grown with projects like Black Rose including the perfect dose of street, hustle and a few words for the ladies. Since then, the East Side Harlem native has gained attention world wide, signing with Mass Appeal Record‘s own Nas, and headlining his own world tour. While his latest offering Hate Me Now, has cemented his place in the industry featuring the legendary Nas, Jadakiss, Styles P, Tray Pizzy and being included in Fab‘s Summertime Shootout mixtape.
I caught up with East at his debut Toads Place, CT performance and lets just say it was nothing short of epic. East brought NY to CT, the energy, the rhymes and overall stage presence bled N.Y.Performing old and new cuts, East had parts of the crowd going wild, as if he was conducting a symphony. Old Fans and New Ones united in the name of East, college girls screaming some of his clever lines, while men literally poured the hearts out while singing along to the rhymes.
